After his first collaboration with lingerie line La Perla – and a life time of underwear inspirations – it’s no surprise Jean Paul Gaultier explore the Parisian – Burlesque mood in his Haute Couture collection. No one could represent better the atmosphere then the burlesque performer Dita Von Teese – she appeared in the runway in a black dress, soon after she stripped down to a beaded corset, thong and suspenders. The models wore high twisted turbans, and came on smoking cigarettes, in exaggerated shapes, metallics, fur and leather.

Depois da sua primeira colaboração com linha de lingerie La Perla – e uma de vida toda envolta em inspirações nas roupas de baixo- não foi nenhuma surpresa Jean Paul Gaultier explorar o clima Parisiense Burlesque em sua coleção Haute Couture. Ninguém poderia representar melhor a atmosfera que a artista burlesca Dita Von Teese – ela apareceu na passarela com um vestido preto, e loguinho foi se despindo, até ficar só com espartilho bordado, fio dental e suspensórios. As modelos usavam turbantes altos torcidos, e fumavam cigarros, vestidas em formas exageradas, metálicos, peles e couro.

Same Old Chic Au Revoir Gaultier for Hermès

After seven years on command of Hermès le enfant terrible Jean Paul Gautier is out. The maison has now a new creative director, Christophe Lamaire who worked as Lacoste’s creative director for eight years. According to an official communicate the decision to end the partnership will allow Gaultier to concentrate on his own projects. There are no doubts Hermès is looking for a more commercial approach to the ready-to-wear collection, after have gained an avant-garde reputation, first under the command of Martin Margiela and followed by Gaultier. However the company has done pretty well over last year’s financial crises, they manage to increase sales by 8.5%. Their secret was to produce expensive, but timeless classics. Lamaire’s first collection ahead Hermès is due in March 2011, and it is expected to be sportswear heavy.

Após sete anos no comando da Hermès o le enfant terrible Jean Paul Gautier está fora. A maison tem agora um novo diretor criativo, Christophe Lamaire que trabalhou como director criativo da Lacoste por oito anos. De acordo com uma comunicado oficial o fim da colaboração irá permitir que Gaultier se concentre em seus próprios projetos. Não há nenhuma dúvida que a Hermès está procurando uma abordagem mais comercial para a coleção ready-to-wear, após ganhar uma reputação de vanguarda, primeiro sob o comando de Martin Margiela, seguido por Gaultier. No entanto, a empresa tem se saido muito bem frente à crise financeira do ano passado,  conseguindo aumentar as vendas em 8,5%. O segredo foi produzir peças caras, mas clássicos atemporais. A primeira coleção de Lamaire para a Hermès será março e 2011, e é de se esperar sportswear jogando pesado.
